Bechamel Sauce- the perfect recipe!
Bechamel Sauce is one of the 5 mother sauces (the others being veloute, Espagnole, Hollandaise and tomato) and it is also one of my favorites! After all it goes with so many dishes, nachos, pasta, crisps and what not!
And here, I'm sharing the recipe for one of my favorite sauces and hoping that you relish it as much as I do:
Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter*
1 tbsp refined flour*
1 cup milk
A pinch of nutmeg (completely optional, but adds a lot of flavour)
Salt
*If you want a thicker sauce, add 2 tbsp butter and 2 tbsp refined flour
Method:
1. Heat the butter in a pan and let it melt
2. Add the flour to it and mix it very well
3. Once the mixture gets bubbly, add milk and stir continuously, making sure that there are no lumps
4. Do not let the flour turn brown or the color of your sauce will change to brown!
5. Add the nutmeg and salt. Cool the sauce and use as desired!
